Orpheus Island Beachfront Rooms - With a unique ambiance, and a beautiful balance between luxury, sanctuary and modernity, all beachfront rooms are designed for 2 guests ensuring utter comfort in a relaxed and chic setting.
Orpheus Island Beachfront Suites - All Suite features are similar to the Beachfront Rooms, however a little more spacious in size with a separate lounge and bedroom. Natural colour schemes, blonde timbers and crisp white linen provide a calm and cool space to unwind in, whilst private terraces boast panoramic Coral Sea views and languid sea breezes.
Orpheus Island Beachfront Villa - Equally luxurious, the Beachfront Villa is designed as a quad share villa, with a lounge room and two separate bedrooms each with their own ensuite bathroom. This allows a family or two couples travelling together to share lounge/living areas but retain the privacy of the bedrooms.

Orpheus Island Eco Tents - 'Touching lightly on the Earth,' these Eco Tents were designed and built in Tasmania and erected to leave a minimal footprint on nature. Designed not to cocoon away from the environment but rather interact with it, the Eco Tents provide guests with an enhanced twin share wilderness experience. Situated in a remote location on the island, guests will feel as if they are camping without forgoing all the luxuries and conveniences.

Activities at Orpheus Island
Orpheus Island Dive - Located within the majestic waters of the Great Barrier Reef, Orpheus’ principal dive sites are home to 1500 species of fish, hundreds of varieties of hard corals and one of the region’s largest collections of the beautiful soft corals. In this undersea realm, at certain times of the year, you may be fortunate enough to swim alongside Green Turtles, Manta Rays, Bull Rays and Humpback Whales. The best way to experience the beauty of this World Heritage listed Marine Park is on an instructor-led barrier reef diving adventure.
NOTE: To avoid any disappointment, we ask that you advise us at the time of booking if you would like to dive whilst staying at Orpheus Island Resort. Failure to do so may result in the inability to dive due to no availability. Pre-booking essential and subject to weather conditions. Prerequisite: Medical Requirements.
Orpheus Island Snorkelling - In the tropical and translucent waters of the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest and most spectacular reef system, take the plunge and snorkel amongst an unimaginable mecca of world-class marine life that call the waters surrounding Orpheus home. On a guided barrier reef snorkelling tour, our Marine Naturalist will charter you to either the local fringing reefs or the adjacent midshelf and outer reefs. Spend hours snorkelling through the diverse and productive waters of this natural aquarium and explore the remote sandy cays of the region.
Orpheus Island Fishing - The waters surrounding Orpheus provide some of the most sought after reef and game fishing species in the world. An excellent array of table fish including Coral Trout, Sweetlip, Spanish Mackerel, Red Emperor and Giant Trevally can be caught in the local waters. For the avid anglers, a trip to the outer reef is where the famous pelagic species breed such as the Black Marlin, Dog Tooth Tuna, Spanish Mackerel and Wahoo. Have your daily catch prepared by our Executive Chef and served for dinner in the restaurant; or grilled on an open fire of a secluded cove whilst you explore your untouched surrounds.
Location and Transfers
Orpheus Island is a true Great Barrier Reef island, located 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Townsville and 190 kilometres (120 miles) south of Cairns and is 24 kilometres (15 miles) offshore. Orpheus Island stretches for 11 kilometres (7 miles) and comprises of 1,368 hectares of pristine National Park.
Nautilus Aviation operates two scheduled daily flights between Townsville Airport and Orpheus. From Townsville Airport, enjoy a 30 minute scenic flight over the spectacular Great Barrier Reef to Orpheus. Passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item, to a maximum of 15kg in total. Should you have excess luggage, secure luggage storage facilities are provided at the Townsville Airport free of charge.
