Waterfalls and Wilderness

Tasmania’s forests are marvelous, even mystical, places and the Waterfalls and Wilderness Trail allow us to visit some of the mountains and valleys, plains and plateaus, streams and rivers, and waterfalls that make up this diverse landscape.
Itinerary
Depart Launceston - 8.30am
We travel east by 4WD vehicle for 90 minutes via the Sidling Ranges, a brief stop for you first topographical visual high, before taking the winding road to the Mt Victoria Forest Reserve and the spectacular Ralph’s Falls, one of Tasmania’s highest waterfalls. Superb views and photographic opportunities are on offer with the unusual geographical structure of this unique single drop waterfall. A 20-30 minute return walk through beautiful untouched rain forest will take you to the viewing platform.
Departing Mt Victoria we travel the Link Road to Pyengana where we will view the St Columba Falls – These are the tallest falls in Tasmania with a high volume multi-tiered waterfall down 90 metres off the side of Mt Victoria. A 20 minute easy return walk will take you to the base of the falls.
Lunch – en route (gourmet picnic lunch or Pyengana Cheese Factory)
After lunch we will travel to the Fingal Forests to visit the Evercreech Forest Reserve. This is home of the famous ‘White Knights’, the tallest white gums in the world. A 20 minute loop walk takes you past the tall trees. You can also take the 45 minute return walk to the picturesque Evercreech Falls if time permits.
The return journey to Launceston will take us through Tombstone Creek Forest Reserve, where we will view a stunning display of undisturbed and untouched old growth forest. We then continue over Roses Tier and on to Launceston.
Return to Launceston – Approximately 5.00pm
