Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Launceston, Tasmania – Geoff Kings Devil Tour
Greeted by your Pepper Bush Adventures’ guide and journey to the far north west of Tasmania; settle into your accommodation, dinner then depart on an amazing experience viewing Tasmanian Devils with your specialist guide for the evening Geoff King. Day 2 – Arthur River Cruise – lunch inclusive
Today you cruise the Arthur River on board the MV Reflections which takes you 15 kms, upstream and watched from high above by the white bellied sea eagles. You may also see platypus and the azure kingfisher with their brilliant blue and orange colourings. Enjoy a gourmet lunch in the peaceful surrounds of the rainforest before taking a walk through the enchanted Warra Creek Valley to the falls. A special feature of this tour is the feeding of the sea eagles as they swoop with a certain grace to accept fresh fish offerings. Day 3 – Cradle Mountain – lunch inclusive
Departing Arthur River we travel the Western Explorer road through the Arthur-Pieman Protected Area which penetrates the forest wilderness and crosses the Pieman River by vehicular barge en route to Cradle Mountain. Arriving at Cradle Mountain we visit Dove Lake, Waldheim Lodge and the Visitor Centre. Overnight – Cradle Mountain Chateau B∓B – Dinner inclusive
Day 4 – Tasmanian Indigenous Experience and Wildlife Viewing – lunch inclusive
Departing Cradle Mountain we journey to Trowunna Wildlife Park to pat a koala, cuddle a wombat and watch the Tasmanian Devils being fed. From Trowunna we visit Jahadi Indigenous Experience to get an insight into Tasmanian Aboriginal culture. To finish your day we take in a gourmet wilderness and wildlife tour (Quoll Patrol), our focus being on the antics of the eastern quoll. Day 5 – Mt William National Park and Bay of Fires – lunch inclusive
Today we journey to Mt William National Park passing through Tombstone Creek Forest Reserve, the service town of Scottsdale, and Musselroe Bay on the way. At Mt William you can enjoy the pristine beaches of Bay of Fires, take the Forester Kangaroo Drive to view the kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. On the return trip to Millybrook we will stop at Blue Lake, where the pure white sediments reflect the intense colour of the sky. Day 6 – Evercreech Forest Reserve and Fairy Penguins – lunch inclusive
After a leisurely breakfast we depart Millybrook and travel to Evercreech Forest Reserve, home of the ‘White Knights” the tallest white gums in the world. From Evercreech we travel to the warm sand and turquoise ocean, mellow afternoons and long, seaside twilights of Bicheno on the east coast. Tonight you are guided through a private penguin rookery by Bicheno Penguin Tours which allows you to view these remarkable birds, up close and undisturbed in their own environment. Day 7 – Freycinet National Park Activities – lunch inclusive
Today you will experience Freycinet Peninsula on a morning 3½ hour cruise with Freycinet Sea Charters. Departing at 9.00am you will explore the granite cliffs and sea caves, then onto Wineglass Bay where you can swim, walk the beach or relax on board the catamaran the Schouten Passage. The afternoon can be spent hiking to the Wineglass Bay lookout (hike/cruise or cruise/hike options are available) and visiting Cape Tourville before joining Freycinet Adventures for a guided twilight kayaking tour of Great Oyster Bay at the base of the magnificent Hazards (4.30 – 7.30pm). Day 8 – Historic Port Arthur – lunch inclusive
Departing Bicheno we journey to the Tasman Peninsula, Eaglehawk Neck and Port Arthur, the nation’s most significant historic site. The Port Arthur Historic Site offers an interpretation gallery and the “Lottery of Life” game, a guided walking tour, the convict museum and access to more than 30 restored buildings, ruins and the beautiful gardens. Leaving Port Arthur, time permitting, we visit natural geological wonders in the Blowhole, Devils Kitchen and Tasman Arch at Eaglehawk Neck en route to Hobart. Day 9 – Bruny Island Cruise – lunch inclusive
Departing Hobart Information Centre at 8.00am, Bruny Island Charters will introduce you to untouched wilderness and abundant wildlife on this relaxing 3 hour, 50 km eco-cruise. After your scenic coach drive from Hobart, embark on your cruise and be surrounded by Australia’s highest, unique cliffs as you hover within their reach. View massive caves and marine and bird life, visit Friar Rocks, home to Australian Fur Seals, and so much more. Return to Hobart around 5.30pm. Day 10 – Mt Field National Park and Heritage Highway – lunch inclusive
Today we journey to Mt Field, Tasmania’s oldest National Park, featuring the magnificent Russell Falls. You will walk through the ferns and rainforest and some of the world’s tallest eucalypt forest to Russell Falls, Lady Barron Falls, the Tall Trees and more. Departing Mt Field we take an enchanting trip back in time to the heritage highway region. See Tasmania’s European heritage, ever present in the Georgian towns of Oatlands, Ross and Campbell Town on our way to Launceston.
