Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Launceston
Greeted by your guide at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. Depending on arrival time, we may make a stop at the Trowunna Wildlife Park to pat a koala, cuddle a wombat and see the Tasmanian devils being fed. Overnight Cradle Mountain Chateau – dinner inclusive
Day 2 – Cradle Mountain Activities
Today we take in the alpine wilderness of Cradle Mountain. We will visit the Cradle Mt. Visitor Centre and take a few gentle interpretive strolls and drive into Dove Lake at the base of the Mountain to take the 2 hour circuit hike of the lake. We will also visit Waldheim Chalet to re-live the hardships endured by Gustav Weindorfer and his family in their dream environment. Overnight Cradle Mountain Chateau – dinner inclusive
Day 3 – Depart Cradle Mountain Chateau 9.30 am
We will make our way Freycinet National Park visiting Sheffield “Town of Murals”, Ashgrove Cheese Farm, and Evercreech Forest Reserve home of the ‘White Knights” the tallest white gums in the world. Overnight Freycinet Lodge – dinner inclusive
Day 4 – Freycinet National Park Attractions and Activities
Today you will experience Freycinet Peninsula on a morning 3.5 hour cruise with Freycinet Sea Charters. Departing at 9.00am you will explore the granite cliffs and sea caves, then onto Wineglass Bay where you can swim, walk the beach or relax on board the catamaran the Schouten Passage. The afternoon can be spent hiking to the Wineglass Bay lookout (hike/cruise or cruise/hike options are available) and visiting Cape Tourville. Overnight Freycinet Lodge – dinner inclusive
Day 5 – Depart Freycinet Lodge 9.30 – Waterfalls and Wilderness
Departing Freycinet we journey up the east coast of Tasmania before discovering some of Tasmania’s North East forests. We will visit the Pyengana Cheese Factory, St. Columbia Falls and Mt. Victoria’s Russel Falls on our way to Launceston. Overnight Peppers Seaport Hotel – dinner Stillwater Restaurant
Day 6 – Taste of the Tamar Valley
We take a brief tour of the Launceston city sites and some of its many attractions such as the spectacular Cataract Gorge before making our way down the beautiful Tamar Valley to our first destination at Rosevears Estate. Here its time to kick start the senses and tempt the taste buds with Tassie’s superb cool climate wines. Our next stop will be Strathlynn Vineyard overlooking the Tamar River and also our lunch destination, and your first introduction to some of Tasmania’s unrivalled fresh local gourmet cuisine and wines, the resident chef Daniel Alps is recognised as one of Australia’s best.
