Huon Ride on the Wild Side

On this tour you will take a thrilling white water jet boat ride, journey through rich valleys and dark forest, by pine fringed rivers and bright waters and visit magnificent underground caves.
Itinerary
Depart Hobart – 8.30 am
Firstly today we journey to the Huon River at Huonville which has formed the picturesque Huon Valley, a beautiful sheltered area surrounded by farmland, orchards, wineries and native forests. You will then be invited to see the magnificent reflections and the rare Huon Pine saplings growing in their natural environment, and to experience the thrill of white water jet boating through the gentle rapids and shingle beds of the Huon River.
From the Huonville be travel south beyond Dover to Hasting Caves and Thermal Springs to discover the wild and unique caves and experience their exceptional ecosystem. You will marvel at one of the world’s great dolomite caves with vaulted chambers (ceilings 30 metres high) which started forming more than 40 million years ago.
Lunch at Hastings Caves Café
On the return journey to Hobart we will visit the Wooden Boat Centre in the township of Franklin and see Tasmania’s fine boat-building timbers being crafted into beautiful wooden boats and discover the rich history surrounding Tasmania’s boat building heritage.
Return Hobart – Approximately 5.00 pm
