The Southern Wilderness Explorer tour will introduce you to some of southern Tasmania’s tall tree forests and wilderness areas, Tasmania’s wildlife and panoramic views.
Itinerary
Depart Hobart – 8.30 am
Our first destination will be a visit to Bonorong Wildlife Park where you will be fascinated by Tasmania’s special wildlife species, watch the devils interacting, wombats burrowing and the quolls playing. Hand feed the kangaroos with complimentary food provided and share unforgettable moments with koalas and their dedicated keepers.
Departing Hobart area and travelling along the majestic Derwent River we enter a region of diversity, rural vistas, hills and valleys to rugged mountain ranges, towering forests and wilderness. Our first destination will be to view the panoramic 360 degree views over the Florentine Valley and Lake Pedder from Mt. Tim Shea. From Mt Tim Shea we journey to Mt Field, Tasmania’s oldest National Park.
Lunch at Falls Café at Mt. Field National Park
After Lunch we will explore Mt Field and your experiences will feature the magnificent Russell Falls. You will walk through the ferns and rainforest and some of the world’s tallest eucalypt forest to Russell Falls, Lady Barron Falls, the Tall Trees and more.
On the return journey to Hobart, time permitting, we will climb up Pulpit Rock for a breathtaking view of the Derwent Valley near New Norfolk.
Return to Hobart – 4.00 – 5.00 pm
