Itinerary
Depart Hobart - 8.30am
Departing Hobart area and travelling along the majestic Derwent River we enter a region of diversity, rural vistas, hills and valleys to rugged mountain ranges, towering forests and wilderness.
Our first destination will be Salmon Ponds at Plenty. Here we will walk through the grounds amongst the centure-old buildings, feed the trout and salmon in the oldest hatchery in the Southern Hemispere and visit the Museaum of Trout Fishing and Native Fish Interpretation Centre.
In leaving Salmon Ponds we journey through some of Tasmanian’s southern forests to Snowy Range Trout Fishery where you have the chance to hook a Rainbow Trout or Alantic Salmon. Over 50% of Hobart’s restaurant salmon and trout are sourced from here.
Lunch – Snowy Range Trout Fishery (gourmet picnic lunch)
After your afternoon’s fishing activity we will return to Hobart via the fruit tree lined highways and country roads of the Huon district and the heart of the apple country in Huonville, on the willow-clad banks of the Huon River.
