Cradle Mountain Day Tour

This tour journeys to Tasmania’s most famous wilderness icon Cradle Mountain. You can spend time wandering the streets of Sheffield where over 40 larger-than-life murals portray the Kentish region’s rich heritage and visit Tasmania’s unique wildlife in natural surroundings at Trowunna Wildlife Park.
Itinerary
Depart Launceston – 8.30 am
Travelling west by 4WD vehicle where our first stop is Ashgrove Farm to sample award-winning Tasmanian chesses before venturing on to Sheffield “Town of Murals” and view larger than life murals depicting stories, scenes and history of the area and its residents. From here we venture past Mt Roland towards Cradle Mountain National Park, passing through rainforest, eucalyptus forest, buttongrass plains and heaths and finally alpine meadows and moorland.
The rood winds into the wilderness towards Waldheim, where conservation pioneer Gustav Weindorfer lived and where from the shores of nearby Dove Lake, the Craggy profile of Cradle Mountain beckons. Short walks are available.
Lunch en route
On the return journey to Launceston we will call at Trowunna Wildlife Park where you can pat a koala, hold a baby wombat and watch Tasmanian devils being hand-fed. Knowledgeable guides provide an informative and interesting commentary. On leaving Trowunna we will stop at Chudleigh and visit The Honey Farm a taste the unique Tasmanian honey.
Return Launceston – Approximately 5.00 pm
