Ruffles Lodge main building is an extension of the Queenslander style with large
verandah, stone walls, high ceilings and beautiful timbers. The dining and
lounge area is an ideal place for meeting before dinner. The large covered
terrace also provides another place for dining during the warmer months and
the poolside gazebo with its wood-fired oven is yet another great place for
dinner or breakfast with views east across rambling hills to the ocean. The
"garden gazebo", situated on a raised knoll with views in all directions and
the sun all day, is an ideal place to relax with a book, enjoy a coffee or a
complimentary drink from the fridge.
Accommodation at Ruffles Lodge
The Villas
The first three villas were completed as part of Stage 1 of the Ruffles
Lodge development and are totally separate from the main lodge. Villas 1 and
2 are separated by a porch, and Villa 3 stands alone. All have 180-degree
views across the rural land of the Gold Coast Hinterland, to the Broadwater
and ocean beyond.
The interior design of the lodges is one of style and warmth with beautiful
aged timbers used throughout. Each has its own covered deck and the
bathrooms are large and well appointed. Beds are king size, (single beds
also provided) and every effort has been taken with the selection of quality
linen and toiletries.
Whether you are staying with us on business or pleasure, we have added a few
small conveniences such as, high-speed Internet connections, video,
satellite and free-to-air television and each Villa has its own private phone
number. It is our opinion that even whilst on holiday, it is good to have
the option to send or receive e-mails or watch your favourite news
programme. The facility is there, use it or ignore it, the choice is yours.
Executive Lodge Suite
The new luxury Executive Suite is situated at the northern end of Ruffles Lodge
with spectacular views from the living room to the coast and a northerly
aspect across the valley from the spacious bedroom. This would surely rate
high amongst the best accommodation available on the Gold Coast or Brisbane.
The bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in dressing room with ample areas for suitcases, television, large deck with comfortable outdoor furniture and the beautifully appointed bathroom has a spa bath. High timber ceilings, glass sliding doors, timber louvres, aged timber flooring, overhead fans, carefully selected furniture and fittings combine
to create a special atmosphere.
Like the bedroom, the living room is air conditioned and for your winter
comfort, there is a wood fire. There is a plasma screen television, DVD and sound
system, and as in the villas there is a high speed internet connection.
Private dining is available for both breakfast and dinner if required. The perfect retreat for honeymooners, executives or the more discerning
travellers. Also ideal for small business meetings or private corporate
gatherings.
Chums' Spa Villas
"Chums" is the only two storey accommodation at Ruffles and was originally designed as an area for our friends, hence the name, but has now been upgraded to guest accommodation and is affectionately known as "Chums' Up" and "Chums Down". Chums Up has a large deck area with a day bed and has filtered views to the coast and valley to the north. The outlook over the large gardens is pleasant and gives a feeling of peace.
To maximize the outlook from Chums Down we have included sliding glass doors and patios on both sides. The north looks out over the gardens and the south has views through the eucalypt forest. They are both 63sq metres and have sunny northerly aspects. Chums Up features a Queen size bed and Chums Down has a King bed. Both have double divan beds (with inner spring mattresses) and spacious bathrooms with double Spas.
The living areas are equipped with log gas fires for winter comfort and 42" Plasma televisions and sound systems for entertainment. Both are equipped with high speed internet connections for those who need to keep in touch with the ‘real world’.
Dining at Ruffles Lodge
Ruffles certainly have the location to give guests a memorable experience with 3 main dining areas each able to meet the mood of the particular day. Staff are prepared to go to almost any lengths to acquire the freshest and best produce. Ruffles has a wood fired oven in the dining gazebo in order to introduce an extra range of tastes in breads, meats, vegetables etc.
Dinner starts at 7pm when guests gather for pre-dinner drinks. Dining at "Ruffles" is dinner party style unless a more intimate setting is requested.
Breakfast is included in the tariff. Ruffles have two styles of breakfast.
1. A comprehensive menu - which is served in the dining room and includes a tropical buffet, followed by a cooked menu.
2. The Lovers' breakfast - which is delivered to your Villa in a hamper, at a time of your choice (8.00 to 9.30). You select from a menu the night before.
Lunch - A selection of light lunches and snacks is available upon request.
Dinner - Prior to dinner guests gather in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and canapés. When dining at Ruffles, it is your choice to either join others (dinner party style) or have your own table in the dining room, alternatively you may want a romantic candlelit dinner by the pool or terrace.
Wines - Ruffles is fully licensed and has a comprehensive, boutique wine cellar. The wine list comprises an aged collection plus the more general selection.
Weddings at Ruffles Lodge
Ruffles Lodge is a beautiful venue for small weddings including the ceremony and reception. There are three Garden Villas, two Chums Spa villas and one executive suite and in mid 2007 Ruffles will have accommodation for four more couples. In readiness for the new accommodation Ruffles Lodge have enlarged their guest lounge and have built a new dining room to take advantage of the spectacular views of the coast, which means they will be able to seat up to 30+ people for formal dining.
There are several places in the large gardens to have your ceremony including two gazebos for inclement weather. The only requirement Ruffles have for sole use of the Lodge, is that you take all accommodation on the night of your wedding and if that night is a Saturday then the requirement applies for two nights. They have found this works quite well as there is no venue charge and relatives seem only too happy to cover the cost of accommodation, especially when they don’t have to drive home and can continue the fun into the next day; also the bride and groom can leave for their honeymoon on the Monday.
Transfers to Ruffles Lodge
