Double Island Private Holiday Apartments - Bare Island Basis
Double Island now offers the discrening traveller the opportunity to experience their very own private island, without the isolation that is so often associated with island life. Palm Cove jetty is a short 10 minute boat ride away and our daily launch service will connect you to all day tours to Cairns, the Daintree National Park, Cape Tribulation and all the excitement of the Great Barrier Reef. In addition being on the doorstep of Palm Cove enables our guests to also access some of the best dining experiences the region has to offer.
Double Island apartments will be available during certain times of the year for bare island use, that being no restaurant, bar, reception and limited (every 3rd day) housekeeping. It is on a self catering basis, much like you would rent an apartment on the mainland, except you are doing so on your own private island which is quite quirky ! There will be an island caretaker who only assists with any maintenance requirements or water recreational equipment.
There are only 5 villas available for private rental on the island, each beautifully appointed and boasting spacious living, with private plunge pool, private garden views and tranquil surrounds. The facilities on the island are extensive and you can be as busy or relaxed as you wish.
The island apartments are fully self contained, and guests staying with us can arrange for their apartments to be stocked prior to arrival, or alternatively following their arrival they can access a wide choice of nearby shops and food outlets at nearby Palm Cove village, by taking advantage of our boat transfer service.

A key feature of Double Island is the protected 25m heated resort pool and outdoor spa, located in the centre of the resort complex, adjacent to the Long Room restaurant and bar area. The Games Room complex features a quiet library room; computer and Internet access; indoor cinema complete with 52in plasma screen TV and surround sound system; and a large games room with pool and table tennis tables and computer game stations.
An evening under the stars, overlooking the tropical seas at Double Island's unique outdoor cinema provides guests with a special experience. For the health-conscious guest, the air-conditioned beachside gymnasium offers uninterrupted views across Trinity Bay and features the latest in exercise equipment while walking tracks through the island¹s Australian bush lead to a variety of magnificent points from which to view the Coral Sea.

Wedding receptions at Double Island include your overnight accommodation in either the Roundhouse honeymoon suite or a stunning apartment with heated private plunge pool. If you would like selected guests to stay over and celebrate your first day as newlyweds we will provide 5-star accommodation for up to 50 guests (twin share basis) for no additional charge. Situated in Tropical North Queensland, just 10 minutes from Palm Cove, Double Island is only available for weddings on a whole-of-island basis, which guarantees you and your wedding guests have exclusive use of the island and all its facilities. Double Island can cater for receptions of up to 400 guests on the open-air waterside deck or 85 guests in the majestic Long Room restaurant.
