ITINERARY
Day 1. Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park, Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek
This morning depart Kununurra at 9.00 a.m. aboard a scenic flight to spectacular World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park. From the air marvel at the unique 350-million-year-old sandstone formation that is one of Australia's most remarkable wonders. On arrival board a 4-wheel drive vehicle and journey through the rugged but striking landscape to majestic Cathedral Gorge. Experience the tranquillity of this amazing gorge. Be sure to test out the acoustics within this natural amphitheatre. Experience breathtaking views of the ancient orange and black striped domes adjacent to the dry bed of Piccaninny Creek. Take the time to explore and inspect the spectacular domes up close. Perhaps take advantage of the many photographic opportunities. Our knowledgeable guide will explain the Aboriginal cultural significance of the mysterious domes, and how a natural covering of silica and algae has created the amazing striped effect on their surface. There's time for a scenic helicopter flight over the domes
(own expense). Stay: Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge. Enjoy the comfort of tented cabins with exclusive private en suite. (L,D)
