ITINERARY
Day 1. Kununurra
Arrive in Kununurra and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this township that is the hub of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, and the commercial centre for the surrounding mining and agricultural industries. Three Night Stay: Kununurra, All Seasons Hotel.

Day 2. Lake Argyle, Durack Homestead, Ord River Cruise
Travel through the striking and rugged countryside of the Carr Boyd Range. Enjoy a tour of Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the southern hemisphere. Visit historic Durack Homestead, named after the region’s most famous pioneering family. This afternoon, join a fascinating wildlife cruise along the magnificent Ord River. Watch for local wildlife, including crocodiles and prolific birdlife.
Day 3. Scenic Flight, Bungle Bungle
Depart Kununurra at 9.00am aboard a scenic flight to World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, home to the Bungle Bungle Range. En route fly over Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere. From the air see Argyle Diamond Mine, one of the largest diamond mines in the world, it produces one-third of the world’s diamonds. Watch as the orange and black striped beehive domes of the Bungle Bungle Range appear on the horizon. As we get closer, see hidden gorges and pools emerge from among the domes.
On landing journey by 4WD along Gorge Track to the southern side of the Bungle Bungle massif. Here enjoy an easy walk into majestic Cathedral Gorge, one of the Bungle Bungle Range’s most scenic attractions. Take your time to explore the gorge for yourself, wandering amid the towering orange walls. Experience the tranquillity of this impressive gorge which is lit from above by a giant hole in its sandstone roof. As you explore be sure to test out the acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. Savour a picnic lunch in the shade of the gorge.
After lunch join a guided walk along the ancient dry bed of Piccaninny Creek and inspect the 350-million-year-old orange and black striped beehive domes up close. Your guide will bring the natural history of the Bungle Bungle domes to life. Learn about the Aboriginal people’s rich knowledge of the area and the cultural significance of the park. You can even learn bushtucker and bush medicine skills. There is time for an optional scenic helicopter flight over the domes (own expense). Board your return flight to Kununurra, arriving at approximately 5.00pm. Transfer to hotel. Lx1
