ITINERARY
Day 1. Bungle Domes, Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek
Depart Kununurra at 9.00 a.m. aboard our scenic flight to World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, home to the Bungle Bungle Range. Fly over Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere, holding 18 times the capacity of Sydney Harbour. From the air see Argyle Diamond Mine which produces one-third of the world's diamonds, including the rare pink diamond. Travel by 4-wheel drive to the starting point of our walk into Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny Creek. Explore majestic Cathedral Gorge and test out the acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. Savour a tasty picnic lunch in the shade of the gorge.

After lunch enjoy a walk along the dry bed of Piccaninny Creek and inspect the orange and black striped beehive domes up close. Their striped appearance is due to a natural covering of silica and algae. One of Australia'smost remarkable natural wonders, this giant sandstone formation is 350 million years old. Your guide will bring the history of these unique structures to life as well as explain the Aboriginal cultural significance of the area. Enjoy time to wander around this area and explore. Perhaps take advantage of the many photographic opportunities. Take an optional scenic helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle Range (own expense).
