Your adventure to this remote wilderness region begins with a 45-minute scenic flight in a light aircraft, travelling northeast from Darwin over Van Diemens Gulf to the Cobourg Peninsula. On arrival at Vashon Head, Midjari private airstrip, your host will greet you and transfer you to the lodge by safari vehicle. Seven Spirit Bay is a total experience of wilderness.

Seven Spirit Bay Eco-Wilderness Resort is unique to the Northern Territory Cobourg Peninsula. Superbly sited in the tropical forest, just a few metres from the sea, Seven Spirit Bay nestles among the trees in virtually untouched forest, designed to be in complete harmony with the environment. Despite its remote and extremely secluded location, we provide guests with a combination of exceptional location, comfort, and the opportunity to experience true wilderness.
The Resort is barely discernable from the air or water, however has commanding views across the bay. The main building is the focus of activity from which meandering paths weave through native, open woodland to several clusters of tropical style accommodation chalets.
The Resort Lodge offers indoor/outdoor dining, cocktail bar, and our air conditioned guest lounge - surrounded by cool, lush lawns and broad decking overlooking the lagoon pool and the impressive vista of the Arafura Sea.
Every aspect of the Resort and your experience there is designed to compliment, to impact the natural and pristine woodland as little as possible. Our guided walks, bush tracks, and "catch and release" fishing policies work with nature to maintain the "power of place".

Guests are privately housed in large, freestanding hexagonal habitats, each secluded in the bush. Choose from two styles of Accommodation at Seven Spirit Bay.
Seven Spirit Bay Chalets - Scattered through the natural eucalypt woodland are 24 individual hexagonal-shaped Chalets. Five sides of each chalet features floor to ceiling screened louvers – to maximise the coastal location, prevailing sea breezes, and the stunning views over Coral Bay. Your own private balcony is perfect for relaxing and watching the magnificent Top End sunsets, and sunrises if you are an early bird.
The surrounding bushland ensures privacy, and an inescapable feeling of total immersion into the native landscape. Natural timber finishes feature in each chalet and you have a spacious sitting area, two queen sized beds for relaxed comfort, occasional furniture, a refrigerator, and tea and coffee making facilities.
Each chalet has its own “bathroom in a garden” - a most indulgent and unique bathing experience. These chalets are ideal for the fully serviced experience, taking meals on the deck of the lodge watching a stunning sunrise or sunset.
Fisherman’s Quarters - For those interested in simply taking advantage of comfortable accommodation on this stunning site, and all its facilities – there is the option of fully self contained quarters. We have 2 bedroom houses, single dorm-style rooms, and even chalets – where visitors have the option of supplying their own meals. Having a comfortable bed at night, and facilities to get breakfast finished by daybreak – gives the fisherman and family the best edge for a great day fishing in Coral Bay and its surrounds.
The hub of Seven Spirit Bay is ‘The Lodge” where guests go to dine and socialise, sharing experiences of their day. Sipping a favourite drink at the lounge bar and witnessing a magnificent Top End sunset, anticipating a meal that features the finest local and national produce with an emphasis on seafood. It doesn't get any better than this. Naturally, special dietary requirements can be looked after if requested at time of booking.
Of course, for those preferring to stay in the Fisherman’s Quarters and self cater, come on down for a drink and a chat once you are done. Seven Spirit Bay Eco-Wilderness Resort offers a range of customised guided fishing tours suited to small groups or the individual. Fishing in the region is considered excellent all year round. The Cobourg Peninsula boasts a range of fishing environments – creek, open water, gutter, flats, and more – each with particular "seasons" and "specialities". We offer both blue water and estuary fishing.
Seven Spirit Bay Eco-Wilderness Resort has boats that can seasonally cover all the fishing grounds.
The fleet is fully equipped with all the latest fishing equipment, and guides onboard will ensure you have the right gear to grab a share of the bounty.
Sport Fishing - for the enthusiast, there are many reefs, outcrops, and islands that produce exciting sport fishing. Wide ranging are the Mangrove Jacks, Trevally, Queenfish, Mackerel, Snapper and Cod. For shark fishermen, there are Black Tips, Whalers and Tigers that give plenty of action. At the end of the Wet Season, Barramundi start working the Trepang Creek system, as well as a few smaller creeks in the area.
Fly Fishermen - shore based fishing provides plenty of action with room to move, however the creeks and estuaries accessed by our fleet will put you amongst the larger pelagic species: barramundi, threadfin and blue salmon.

Tours from Seven Spirit Bay Eco Wilderness Resort
Historical Victoria Settlement/Coburg Explorer Tour - Out boat will retrace the course of the early mariner's square riggers, passing landmarks like Gunners Quoin, Low Point, Turtle Rock, Observation Cliff and Record Point. Our guide will delve back into yesteryear, explaining the buildings and lifestyle of the early British occupation. An optional extension walk will lead to lonely gravestones in the forest, almost forgotten by history. Take in the picnic lunch on beaches used for centuries by Macassan Trepangers, flick a lure or few in the bay, then head for home under the setting afternoon sun. A visit en-route home will call on Black Point Ranger Station for an interesting look at the Cobourg Visitors Centre.
Champagne Sunset/Wildlife Safari Tour - Depart by boat from our pontoon and spend time exploring the waters of the Cobourg Marine Park with a chance to see rare turtles, dolphins, sharks, and the elusive Dugongs. If the conditions permit, step ashore Gilligan's Island. This trip takes you on stunning water tour where you will enjoy champagne and canapés while the top end sun sets and promises to paint the sky in an explosion of colour. The main lodge includes our lagoon-style pool, equipped board gaming areas, a reading room, and acres of shady quiet spots to hide away reading, meditating, drinking in the peace and tranquillity.
Nocturnal Wildlife Safari Cruise - Trepang Creek is a large system which is fed by natural springs and soaks along inland creek lines. We travel to the inland creek system, and the multitude of birdlife supported there. Enjoy a relaxing cruise on Trepang Creek, exploring this tropical mangrove waterway – and face up to the Apex predator of the Wetlands – the Estuarine Crocodile along with turtles, other marine life and perhaps a thirsty buffalo on the bank. Please note this tour is tidal dependent.
Self Guided Walks
Eastern Paperbark Wetland Walk - Only 900 metres from the Lodge is a permanent Paperbark Wetland. The walk is also sign posted for bird watchers and nature lovers to walk at their leisure and individual pace.
Hospital Point Walk - an easy beach walk up to the remains of a tented camp – reportedly this was a hospital camp dating from the Victoria Settlement (1838-1849). The next ridge is an easy distance to stunning views of Gilligan’s Island and the Arafura Sea. Photographic Paradise!
Low Point Mountain Bike Walk - A personalised reveal is offered here, of the magnitude of shells, corals, and marine life trapped by the tide in this interesting ecosystem. Explore Aboriginal middens and local paperbark swamp ecosystems also.
Kennedy Bay 4WD Safari - Arrive at the long sweeping beach which lends itself to a range of walking options depending on the fitness level and interests of the guests. Following scenic inlets and cliff we reach a point for an overview of Port Essington, Smith Point and Black Point Rangers Station. At low tide, it is possible to traverse the base of the multicoloured, mudstone cliffs – a frequently featured local postcard location.
Gunner’s Quoin 4WD and Wildlife Beach Walk - After driving to the top of Gunner’s Quoin Cliff, we can see the majestic views of the coral reefs, tidal plains and islands dotting the Arafura Sea. Following a track down to the beach, we pass a rocky headland. From here it is possible to continue on to the Gunner’s Quoin Wetland. This particular wetland is seasonally filled, unlike the Eastern Paperbark Wetland.
Champagne Sunset Wildlife Safari - Depart the lodge by 4WD drive to Vashion Head – a low sandy point that juts out into the Arafura Sea near the far end of the Airstrip. This is savannah country, and a favourite with wildlife which often congregates around wooded seasonal waterholes. Your guide will drive near these water holes to try and spot the birds and beasts, before heading for the beach to watch the sun set. Multitudes of fish inhabit the shallow coastal lagoon backed by Casuarina trees. This suburb location is a great place to finish the day, relaxing with a glass of champagne or wine, whilst enjoying the magnificent “Top End” sunset.

Transfers to Seven Spirit Bay
Seven Spirit Bay is only accessible by a combined flight and vehicle transfer. You are free to negotiate your own air charter to the resort or select from our pre-arranged services which can be booked in conjunction with your accommodation.
Flights: Depart Friday and Sunday from Darwin to Seven Spirit Bay at approx 3.30pm. Flight returns from Seven Spirit Bay to Darwin on Friday and Sunday at approx 4.30pm.
Luggage: Guests are required to restrict their luggage to 10kg per person (Soft style bag). Additional luggage could be charged additionally, or may be confined to storage in Darwin if there is no available excess weight.
