Bullo River Station is in the northwestern corner of the Northern Territory near the Western Australian border. Encircled by the coffee coloured waters of the Victoria River and rugged hills inscribed with Aboriginal rock art, this vast property is not only home to around 9000 Brahman-cross cattle but also a stunning variety of local fauna species including wallabies, dingoes, wild buffalo, a myriad of native and migratory birds, fish and the omnipresent crocodile. The ‘Boab’ is Bullo’s symbol and these proud trees dot the entire property lending their stature to what is already an impressive landscape.

Bullo has been described as the quintessential Australian outback experience. Covering an area the size of Sydney (half a million acres!), the Station is home to your hosts Marlee and Franz Ranacher. You will relish the opportunity to share their home and their daily lives with fascinating stories and great outback hospitality and will feel like family friends rather than tourists. Whilst their responsibilities may take either of them away from time to time, our team is on hand to ensure you can explore the magic of the East Kimberley region of the Northern Territory.

Marlee and Franz welcome discerning travelers to Bullo from March through to November on an all inclusive basis (closed December, January and February during the peak of the wet season) and offers the opportunity to experience cattle station life in a unique and very remote part of Australia – doing as little or as much as you wish! For anyone who wants to learn some real Aussie bushcraft, from cracking a bullwhip to roping cattle aboard a bull catcher – a stripped down Toyota with rubber tyres mounted on the front to deflect horns – the team at Bullo are the experts to show you.

Accommodation at Bullo River Station
In the evenings return to the homestead and help yourself to a glass of wine or hard earned beer. Dine on barramundi, hopefully one you have caught yourself, or enjoy the taste of free-range, grass fed, prime beef (all dietary requirements can be catered for). After dinner stargaze into the clear, dark, pollution free skies and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this true Outback.

The Homestead and the adjoining accommodation provide a very comfortable retreat from the rigours of the daily activities. Just because you are in the Outback doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life’s small pleasures with home style meals and equally great company.

A purpose built guest area consists of twelve double/twin rooms each with air-conditioning and en-suite facilities. Located a few metres from the main house, all rooms have sliding door access to the lawns surrounding the Homestead. Of course, guests are welcome to enjoy full access to the vast living areas of the Homestead plus use of the swimming pool.

There is no minimum night stay required, however we would highly recommend at least 3 to 5 nights. This will allow you to experience a diverse range of interesting activities and to appreciate the vastness of this stunning location.

Inclusions
Accommodation, all meals, scheduled activities including fishing, station activities, gorge cruise, daily guiding. Limited alcohol with meals (beer and wine).

Bullo River Station Information
Filling your days at Bullo is never a chore with a range of activities on offer to suit all interests and each can be tailored to your wishes. Try fishing for Barramundi along a lovely stretch of the Bullo River – even the novice fisherman are guaranteed an action packed day matching wits with Australia’s most famous fighting fish! Enjoy tours and interpretation of Aboriginal art sites, cruise down the Bullo River Gorge by boat to fish or spot crocodiles, whilst taking in the landscape that is Northern Australia.

You might like to try cattle mustering or horse riding depending on your riding ability and on the station's mustering schedule. Bushwalks, bird and wildlife watching or travel to scenic vantage spots to perhaps sketch or paint – the choices are plentiful. Picnic lunches are enjoyed by peaceful billabongs or under the shade of the magnificent boab trees. With transport options that include 4WD, quad bike, helicopter, horseback, boat or light aircraft – your adventure awaits!!

For an incredible adventure (extra charge), take a helicopter ride and become familiar with this awesome property. There are several large freshwater swimming holes and waterfalls high up in the escarpment away from the crocodiles which can only be accessed by helicopter and whilst it is an additional cost this is a wonderful way to explore parts of the property that are inaccessible by any other means. The view of Bullo’s vastness from a chopper is truly breathtaking and comes highly recommend.

For an additional cost we can also fly you to the magnificent Bungle Bungles, where you can participate in a scenic flight, or ground tour to enjoy these amazing geographical landmarks.

All activities on offer are included in the nightly rate with additional cost only for helicopter and Bungle Bungle trips.
