Named after the soaring white sails that crown its roof, Sails in the Desert is Ayers Rock Resort’s premier hotel. Exquisitely furnished and designed, interior décor focuses on Aboriginal heritage and culture, with a gallery in the lobby and significant artworks featured throughout the public areas and private rooms.

Sails in the Desert is home to 224 Standard Rooms; 6 Deluxe Spa Rooms and 2 Deluxe Spa Suites. Wheelchair accessible rooms are also available.

Deluxe Suite - Deluxe Suites are over twice the size of the Spa Rooms and provide separate living/dining and sleeping areas. Suites feature multiple balconies overlooking the garden. French doors connect the indoor spa to the bedroom. Interconnecting rooms are available. King bed; 2-3 persons using rollaway.

Spa Room - The Spa Rooms have extended balconies with an open-air spa. The rooms are configured with a deluxe king or twin queen beds and include air-conditioning, television, movies on demand, minibar and bathrobes are provided. King bed and sofa or 2 x queen beds; 2-4 persons.

Standard Room - Standard Rooms feature modern bathrooms with the latest amenities. Rooms feature twin queen beds or a deluxe king, and can accommodate up to five people. All rooms include air-conditioning, television, movies on demand, minibar and bathrobes are provided. 2 x queen beds; 2-4 persons.

Dining at Sails in the Desert
Kuniya Restaurant - Situated at the 5 star Sails in the Desert Hotel, this premier venue offers an innovative modern menu. Within this elegant setting, guests will experience a blend of traditional and contemporary ingredients combined with unique flavours. The restaurant's wine list reflects its Australian heritage and the service is both discerning and personalised. Opening hours are subject to seasonal demand. Reservations are essential.

Winkiku Restaurant - Situated at Sails in the Desert Hotel, Winkiku serves a buffet breakfast in a brasserie-style setting. Children 12 years and under eat free.

Tali Bar - A relaxed, friendly atmosphere at Sails in the Desert Hotel for pre-dinner drinks or late night cocktails. Open from mid morning until late.

Sounds of Silence

The Sounds of Silence dining experience is highly recommended, and we encourage every visitor who comes to Ayers Rock Resort to join us for this unique event. At the Sounds of Silence experience you can dine under the canopy of the desert night, while your very own storyteller shares tales as told in the stars. Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence offers the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours.

Sunset canapés -Your journey begins on a lone sand dune. A path takes you to an uninterrupted, three hundred and sixty degree view of this vast landscape. In front of you is the fabled Uluru; behind you are the domes of Kata Tjuta and, possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here you enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapés.

Dining under the sparkling outback sky - As the sun sets, you feast on a BBQ buffet of authentic Australian delicacies examples include barramundi, kangaroo, emu and crocodile, bush salads and classic desserts, complemented by Australian wines. Stargazing- Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing, as our star talker takes you on a tour of the spectacular southern night sky. As you wind down after dinner, you are offered a choice of tea, coffee or port.

Amphitheatre outdoor, Tjungu room houses 260 theatre style, 3 break out rooms up to 50 people per room. Audio visual/whiteboard/flip chart/overhead projector and screen included. Additional equipment available for hire.

Transfers and Location of Sails in the Desert
Fly into Ayers Rock and take the complimentary coach transfer from the airport to Ayers Rock Resort. Complimentary shuttle service is also available for transport within the Resort. Located just 6 kilometres from Ayers Rock (10 minutes travel) and 450 kilometres from Alice Springs.
