South Coast Track - 9 Days/8 Nights
The South Coast is, quite simply, awesome! Wild unspoiled wilderness, remote untouched beaches, rugged mountain ranges, pristine rivers, and towering rainforests. The South Coast track was originally an escape route for shipwrecked sailors and is now an escape route from modern life. The trip begins with a spectacular flight to the remote airstrip at Melaleuca in the heart of the wilderness. From here we trek east for nine days along the 80 km track following the coast and finishing at Cockle Creek. Our generous time frame allows for side trips, a complete rest day for swimming, fishing or simply relaxing on an empty beach. We will walk 10-15kms per day carrying packs up to 20kgs; no special skills are required other than good fitness and an open flexible approach to being in remote areas for consecutive days. Amidst this truly wild area you will discover a land with a history of early pioneers and indigenous Australians that is occupied by an abundance of wildlife including wombat's, pademelons, quolls and
the rare orange-bellied parrot.
Inclusions: 8 breakfasts, 9 lunches and 8 dinners, professional wilderness guides, all group camping equipment, all National Park fees, emergency communications and group first aid kit, transport from Hobart- flight from Hobart to Melaleuca.
