Frenchman’s Cap Trek - 6 Days/5 Nights
(1 night cabin)
The spectacular Frenchman's Cap rises 1,443 metres out of the Gordon-Franklin Wild Rivers National Park. Comprised of Tasmania's oldest rock the eastern side of the peak is an impressive overhanging 300 metre sheer face of white quartzite. Our walk to Frenchman's Cap is a 43 km circuit over varying terrain including open button grass plains, dense rainforests with steep ascents and river crossings. Amidst this truly wild area you will discover an abundance of wildlife including many endemic bird species. By allowing 5 days and camping under the summit, we have a greater chance of visiting the summit in fine weather, with views throughout the Tasmanian wilderness including, Mt. Ossa, the Arthur Range and Macquarie Harbour. This is a remote World Heritage listed wilderness area and part of our walk will be through trackless terrain.
