Itinerary:
Day 1 - Sydney - Broken Hill
Depart Sydney at 1400pm, overflying the western plains and across the Menindee Lakes to Broken Hill, arriving approx 1600pm. Old Willyama Motor Inn ( D)
Day 2 - Broken Hill - Marree - Lake Eyre - Marree (by road) - Olympic Dam
A short morning light to Marree where you are met by Reg Dodd. Reg is a local aboriginal whose family are the traditional owners of the area. Today he conducts tours during the winter season, in the summer he represents the aboriginal community at the United Nations. You now journey across the ope plains of the Great Artesian Basin, passing through the dingo proof fence to the dry Lake Eyre South.
Here you will see how barren and desolate this area really is. Reg is both an informative and entertaining guide who will show you traditional medicine and culture. Upon retuning to Marree you board our smaller aircraft or the one hour flight over Lake Eyre North which is inundated with water. Upon returning to Marree you fly across to Olympic Dam, the home of the giant Roxby Mine. Roxby Downs or Marree (BLD)
Day 3 - Olympic Dam - Broken Hill - Sydney
A morning flight back to Broken Hill for lunch. You then fly eastward and back to Sydney. (BL)

Itinerary:
Day 1 - Sydney - Broken Hill

Day 2 - Broken Hill - Marree
This morning you begin with a visit to one of the main mining sites, then on to Pro Hart’s Gallery and the Royal Flying Doctor Base. Of special interest is the Living Desert Art Trail, created in 1993 by twelve internationally renowned sculptors. Late afternoon we re-board the aircraft to travel further west over Lake Frome. Below you will see the first glimpse of a salt lake, and on to the historic township of Marree. Marree Hotel (BLD)
Day 3 - Marree - Lake Eyre - Marree (by road)
Today we depart on a road journey to the edge of Lake Eyre with our guide Reg Dodd. Reg is a local aboriginal whose family are the traditional owners of the area. Today he conducts tours during the winter season, in the summer he represents the aboriginal community at the United Nations. To get to the lake we travel across the open plains of the Great Artesian Basin, passing through the dingo proof fence. We spend the day in and around the lake, returning to Marree in the late afternoon. Before dinner we suggest you join the locals in the Public Bar for a cool drink. Marree Hotel ( BLD)
Day 4 - Marree - Tibooburra - Sydney
The aircraft departs Marree and flies over both Lake Eyre South and North before heading Eastwood over Lake Blanche, and the state border back to New South Wales, finally landing at Tibooburra. The remainder of the morning is free to wander around the town before having lunch at the Tibooburra Hotel. Mid afternoon you re-board the aircraft for the flight home. ( BL)
Note: Birdsville Races Weekend Departure - The departure scheduled for the 02 September 2010 incorporates a visit to Birdsville for the famous Birdsville Horse Races and an overnight at Inaminca.
