Dining at Kings Canyon Resort
Carmichael’s Restaurant - A buffet selection set in warm, inviting surrounds overlooking a desert garden. Open for breakfast from 5.30am - 10.00am, the extensive buffet offers a range of hot and cold breakfast favourites and is a great way to start your day before heading off to explore the wonders of Kings Canyon.
Sounds of Firelight - Imagine the romance of a table for two in a wilderness setting under a canopy of the southern night sky. The only light comes from the moon and the flickering glow of the fire. The only sound is from the whispering of the breeze through the Desert Oak trees and the crackling flames. Enjoy a four course set menu, accompanied by quality Australian wines. Sounds of Firelight is exclusive to Kings Canyon Resort and the entire evening experience is designed for intimacy, with no more than ten couples dining on any one night. Reservations for Sounds of Firelight are essential and should be pre-booked with accommodation. Note: Sounds of Firelight will close 1 November to 31 March inclusive.
Desert Oaks Café - For lunch or a quick meal on the run, the Desert Oaks café offers a selection of light meals, beverages and snacks. Come and select from our delicious lunch menu between 10.00am and 3.00pm. Open for dinner from December to March, the Cafe features an a la carte menu including steak, chicken and seafood, in relaxed outback surrounds.
Outback BBQ and Grill - For a true Australian Outback experience offering a selection of contemporary Australian BBQ cuisine. Enjoy a-la-carte BBQ-style fare, fresh vegetables and salads, and a wide selection of wines, spirits, ales and soft drinks. Open for dinner from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Revel in the friendly atmosphere, mixing with other guests under a solid roof with open sides - just as if you're on a traditional outback verandah. This casual bar and grill also provides live entertainment during peak season (seasonal - generally June to November). Note: Seasonal closure applies from 01 December to 31 March.
George Gill Bar - As the sun sets over the desert landscape, enjoy a drink from the bar before dinner. Open from 3.00pm daily until late. This is the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the wonders of Watarrka National Park. Delicious home made pizzas are available from 6.00pm each night.
General Store - If you are catering for yourself, pick up supplies at our mini-supermarket, which has a good range of food and groceries on offer. Open daily from 7.00am to 7.00pm.
