• Each spacious cabin measures 3.65m x 2.1m, including ensuite bathroom - almost twice the size of The Ghan’s Gold Service cabins.
• Your cabin is a private lounge during the day with a moveable table and 2 ottomons, to offer plenty of room to entertain or to simply relax and enjoy the journey.
• By night your private cabin converts to your choice of comfortable double or twin beds offering quality bedding.
• The interior radiates a true Australian character, finished in polished Tasmanian Myrtle and plush pile floor coverings.
• All cabins have a writing desk, ideally positioned next to the window, where you can enjoy the view in style or write a postcard to someone special.

Dining
Platinum Service guests travelling aboard The Ghan dine in a beautifully decorated Queen Adelaide Restaurant Car. All meals are included in the Platinum Service fare. The enjoyment of fine food and wine combined with views across this vast, beautiful continent is an unrivalled experience.

Sample selections from our superb menus served to your table. The ever-changing menus feature a blend of Australian and International cuisine, cooked to perfection by our on-board chefs. Quality wines and beverages are available for purchase. Vegetarian, children’s and some special dietary meals can be accommodated - please request these when you make your booking. Note: breakfast packs will be delivered to cabins on some services to cater for early morning destination arrivals and off-train tour requirements.

Single Cabins have similar features to the Twin Cabin with the exception of toilet and shower facilities which are located at the end of each carriage. Complimentary welcome kits, toiletries bags and fluffy bath towels are located in all Gold Kangaroo Service cabins.

Guests travelling in Gold Kangaroo Twin Cabins may take on board one suitcase (up to 20kg), garment bag, cabin bag and briefcase (any more luggage than this is discouraged due to reduced cabin space). Guests are permitted a maximum of 40kg free of charge in the Luggage Car. Please note: 'checked-in' luggage cannot be accessed during the journey.

Deluxe Cabin Ideal for guests seeking a little extra space and comfort. The Deluxe Cabin is twice the size of a normal Gold Kangaroo Twin Cabin and features a small double bed plus additional fold down single bed. This cabin has its own private lounge area with table, arm chairs, video entertainment and a well stocked bar fridge with complimentary refreshments. There is only one Deluxe Cabin on every The Ghan journey so advance bookings are essential.

Chairman's Car A private carriage accommodating up to 8 people in style and comfort. For the ultimate experience on The Ghan, you can organise a party of family or friends to travel in this stylish self contained carriage. The Chairman's Car can be added to any leg of The Ghan and can be tailored to suit your personal requirements. It boasts a generous lounge with CD player and video entertainment, a private dining room, and sleeps up to eight with two double bedrooms and two twin cabins.

These cabins feature private washing facilities including towels; toilet and shower facilities are located at the end of each carriage. For your convenience there is a wardrobe, vanity mirror, 3 pin/240 volt power points, reading lamp and a foldaway table. Guests travelling in Red Kangaroo Service can enjoy the comfortable facilities of the Red Kangaroo Lounge and Diner. Guests travelling alone may be required to share a Red Kangaroo Sleeper Cabin.

The ever changing menus will often feature native Australian cuisine, cooked to perfection by our own dedicated chefs. Excellent wines and beverages are available for purchase to complement your meal. Gold Kangaroo Lounge
The spacious Gold Kangaroo Lounge adjoins the sleeper carriages and is often the centre of activity for any journey. The cosy club-like setting is an excellent place to socialise or to sit back and enjoy the passing parade of Australian landscapes. This is the ideal place to gather for a drink before dinner or for a game of cards and a nightcap with new friends.

Red Kangaroo Diner and Buffet

Red Kangaroo Service features a bright, cheery Diner and Buffet Car where affordable, tasty light meals and snacks may be purchased. Limited special dietary light meals are available on request (advise at time of booking). The Diner is fully licensed and smoking is not permitted. Snacks and light meals are also available for purchase throughout the day from the licensed Buffet Car. Red Kangaroo Lounge Guests travelling in both Red Kangaroo Sleeper Cabin and Daynighter Seat can enjoy the Red Kangaroo Lounge (neat casual dress codes apply). Beverages are available for purchase from the Lounge; sit back and relax over a quiet drink whilst enjoying views of the passing scenery. Video games and entertainment are also available in the Red Kangaroo Lounge. NOTE: Smoking is not permitted onboard The Ghan.
