Starting or ending your journey on the Indian Pacific in this stunning city is the ideal opportunity to take in some of its many attractions. If you only have a short amount of time, there are plenty of options to explore the region’s attractions like Fremantle, Rottnest Island and the wine regions of the Swan Valley and Margaret River. With a few more days you will discover some of Australia’s best natural wonders including the amazing dolphins of Monkey Mia and Ningaloo Reef.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, stop off in one of Australia's famous goldfields, Kalgoorlie. It is simple to hop off the train and enjoy 3 days exploring the remote outback to take in the sights and then reboard the next train to continue your journey.

Swan Valley, Wildlife, Wine and Chocolate
A short drive from Perth through the historic town of Guildford is the Swan Valley – Perth’s gourmet central! This fun tour includes visits to the State’s oldest and best known vineyard, Sandalford Wines, for tastings and the outlet of the Margaret River Chocolate Factory where you can sample their delicious chocolate. Head south through the town of Mandurah, break at Donnybrook, the "apple town", famous for it's apple and stonefruit orchards. Stop at the Diamond Tree one of the three towering trees in the district once used as a bushfire watch tower. Enjoy picnic lunch and those feeling like a challenge can attempt the climb to the wooden watch cabin. Continue through Karri forests before reaching the Valley of the Giants. Experience the Treetop Walk, a 400 metre long elevated walkway constructed through the canopy gradually reaching up to 40 metres above ground level. The views of the forest below are sensational. Visit Denmark and other towns on your way back to Perth.
