GRADING: MODERATE - These journeys are more challenging and are designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities the traveller must be able to walk up to 1 km on uneven surfaces unaided, travel by four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads and walk up steps unassisted.

A rare chance to visit Australia’s most northerly tip and the Torres Strait Islands. Along the way you’ll explore tropical rainforests, stay in luxury lodges and experience the timeless beauty of this land.

Day 1 - Cairns / Port Douglas
Your journey begins at the luxurious Sea Temple Port Douglas. Accommodation: Sea Temple Port Douglas

Day 2 - Mossman Gorge / Daintree River National Park
After a morning at leisure, meet the Kuku Yulanji people, original inhabitants of the rainforest. Cruise on the waters of the Daintree River and view the variety of bird, animal and plant life, some unique to this environment. Accommodation: Sea Temple Port Douglas

Day 3 - Port Douglas / Bloomfield
Journey by road into the remarkable Cape York wilderness regions. Following the coastline, the drive provides a visual spectacle - from lush tropical rainforests to breathtaking coastal vistas. Visit Cape Tribulation, one of the most picturesque tropical regions on the far north coastline. Transfer by ferry to the secluded Bloomfield. Accommodation: Bloomfield Lodge

Day 4 - Rainforest Luxury
Bloomfield’s peace and tranquillity instantly envelop you the moment you arrive. The lodge blends perfectly into the beauty of the surrounding rainforest and unique coastal location. Day 5 - Bloomfield / Cooktown
This morning travel by four wheel drive vehicle along the famed Bloomfield Track. View the spectacular untouched rainforests of the Cape York Peninsula, and the unique rock formations of Black Mountain, concluding in the historic township of Cooktown. Accommodation: Sovereign Resort

Day 6 - Cooktown
Time today to explore this historic town - visit the James Cook Museum with its treasure trove of memorabilia to learn of Cooktown’s discovery and eventful history, the Botanic Gardens and Interpretive centre. Visit Grassy Hill Lookout for breathtaking views of the coast, the Endeavour River and Cooktown. Accommodation: Sovereign Resort

Day 7 - Laura / Torres Strait
This remarkable journey leaves the coastline heading inland to the almost forgotten township of Laura. Visit the Split Rock Art Gallery, which is a natural amphitheatre surrounded by steep sandstone escarpments, comprising one of the richest bodies of Aboriginal rock art known in the world. Board our private aircraft this afternoon for a flight to the Torres Strait Islands, landing at Horn Island and transferring by ferry to Thursday Island. Accommodation: Jardine Motel

Day 8 - Thursday Island / Friday Island
A tour of Thursday Island provides a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the Torres Strait Islanders, the island’s involvement in World War II and the local art of the area. Journey by boat to isolated Friday Island for lunch and inspection of the Kazu Pearl Farm. Accommodation : Jardine Motel

Day 9 - Australia's Northern most tip / Lizard Island
Private aircraft awaits to transport us to the mainland township of Bamaga - gateway to the northern tip journey by four wheel drive to the tip of Cape York, returning to the aircraft for a flight to the luxurious Lizard Island. Accommodation: Lizard Island

Day 10 - Lizard Island
Lizard Island is a National Park covering 1,013 hectares with 24 powdery white beaches. This secluded resort offers the perfect sanctuary for tranquillity and relaxation. Situated on the reef, it provides a perfect opportunity to view our magnificent coral gardens and abundant sea-life. For those interested, a visit to the Lizard Island Research Station can be arranged, a facility of the Australian Museum. Accommodation: Lizard Island

Day 11 - Lizard Island / Cairns
Travel by small aircraft to Cairns to connect with your onward flights.
