Accommodation at Capella Lodge, Lord Howe Island
Capella Lodge sets new standards of exclusive luxury and style on Lord Howe Island. Hosting no more than 20 guests the spacious suites compliment the serenity and pristine natural environment providing luxurious refuge. Capella Lodge is the only Lord Howe Island accommodation with lagoon, mountain and ocean views.
The visual drama is compelling: a cascade of glass plunges dramatically from a skillion roof allowing Lord Howe’s signature subtropical forests, the towering twin peaks and the jewel-toned reef, to take centre stage. The Lodge’s contemporary style and streamlined luxury – interiors awash with muted colours with hints of modern tropical and mariner chic – is beautifully matched with exceptional dining and first name service.
The teak clad main Lodge houses the Capella Restaurant, Makambo Bar, Gower’s Terrace and the spacious Kentia Lounge. Exclusive fabrics by Bruce Goold, custom furnishings, original artworks and light fittings that are more adequately described as light sculptures highlight the intriguing seafaring origins of Lord Howe and add to the relaxed mood of the Lodge.
The spacious Kentia Lounge encourages relaxation, offering incredible mountain and reef break scenery and wide comfy banquettes. An open fire provides additional comfort in the cooler months.

The waters are crystal clear, the beaches are pristine, there is no pollution and birds and marine life abound.
Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft have been operating to Lord Howe Island since 1991 they are one of the few commercial aircraft in Australia capable of landing on the Island’s picturesque but short airstrip. Access is by a Qantaslink flight directly from either Sydney or Brisbane with flights connecting from various other Australian cities. These can be booked in conjunction with your accommodation package.
A mere 280 people are lucky enough to call the Island home and to preserve Lord Howe’s unique and precious natural environment, visitor numbers are restricted, by law, to 400 at any one time.
