Cattle Drive on Demand - (Seasonal) - 4 Days/3 Nights
Day 1
Executive car pick-up and transfer to the airport for coffee and muffins/fruit at our Moorabbin Big Blue lounge. Fly direct to the Prairie Hotel, Parachilna, after a lunch break enroute at Mildura’s Stefano de Pieri’s 27 Deakin Street. Land on the private airstrip at Commodore Station adjacent to the Prairie Hotel. We are met by our hosts Ross and Jane Fargher and take the short trip to the hotel by air-conditioned 4WD. Enjoy a cold beer in the bar of this quintessential Outback pub. This afternoon we indulge with a tour of the awe inspiring Flinders Ranges.
“Sundowner” drinks on the veranda of the hotel watching your first Outback sunset. Tonight be treated to dinner featuring emu, kangaroo and magnificent local beef washed down with premium Aussie beers and wines. Retire to the comfort of one of the fabulous en-suited hotel rooms.
Day 2
A hearty country breakfast to kick start this exciting day. Then into the 4WD to Nilpena Station to meet the stockmen, your horse and then to saddle up. Lunch is had in the outback, stockman style, “on the hoof”. The afternoon is spent on horse-back moving cattle against the back drop of the incredible Flinders Ranges. When it’s time stop for the day the ladies are invited to relax in the camp-site with a muscle refreshing massage, whilst the men can grab an icy cold beer and tell a few yarns from the day’s mustering. It’s a camp-fire dinner tonight of local beef and lamb with garden fresh vegetables and local bush berry sauces.
Then its time to gaze up into a billion Outback stars whilst enjoying a private concert around the fire by an award winning Australian singer/songwriter. You’ll sleep well tonight at base-camp in Outback Australia.
Day 3
It’s an early start this morning with bacon, eggs and “damper” (camp oven bread) for breakfast with fresh fruit and cereals and plenty of “billy tea” Then it’s back on your horse as you continue your cattle drive through some of the most beautiful and rugged country in Australia. We stop for lunch and take an hour or so to listen to the amazing stories of courage and hardship from the stockmen and women who are our hosts on this trip of a lifetime. We make it back to the homestead in time to dismount from the saddle and head to the sand hills for a champagne sunset reception. Then it’s the short trip back to the Prairie Hotel for a well earned shower and dinner in their famous restaurant.
Day 4
After breakfast, and perhaps a morning swim at the hotel, take the time to wander around this world renowned Outback town of Parachilna, population 5, and grab a souvenir or 2 to take home with you. We then board the aircraft after your last Outback lunch bound for the magnificent blue waters of The Great Ocean Road and a spectacular low level pass, at 500 feet, over the 12 Apostles. Truly encapsulating an “Outback to the Ocean experience”. Chasing the late afternoon shadows we land in Melbourne in plenty of time to be met by your executive car to take you to your city hotel of choice.
