Desert Dreaming - (Seasonal) - 5 Days/4 Nights
Day 1
Today is spent at a quiet pace, starting to scratch the surface of Aboriginal culture, while having time to enjoy the sights, sounds and cuisine of the picturesque South Australian capital, Adelaide. During the day we visit the South Australian Museum which has a great anthropological section called Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery and Tandanya - The National Aboriginal Cultural Institute as this often has interesting exhibitions, along with a couple of commercial galleries including DACOU and Boomerang.
Day 2
Today we board our private aircraft and head north along the Flinders Ranges, enjoying a scenic view of Wilpena Pound enroute to the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna. After a light lunch, the afternoon is spent enjoying a private 4x4 tour of the Flinders Ranges. Tonight relax as the sun sets over the desert and enjoy a gourmet dinner of Australian native cuisine.
Day 3
After a relaxing breakfast we fly off to Coober Pedy, the Opal capital of the world. An afternoon of private touring of the underground township and mines awaits us before spending the night in luxury at the Desert Cave Hotel.
Day 4
We now get into the really remote area of this experience and today visit the Aboriginal communities of Fregon and Warburton. Both these remote communities give us the rare opportunity to view Aboriginal art and culture, along the way possibly meeting some of the artists themselves. Tonight is spent in Warburton.
Day 5
Our last day as we head towards Ayers Rock. Along the way we call into the small communities of Patjarr, Blackstone and Wingellina, for the last chance to view Aboriginal art first-hand. All along, your private guide Sophie is pointing out the interesting aspects of this ancient culture. We arrive at Ayers Rock late afternoon enjoying the sight of this world renowned icon from the air as we approach it out of the desert.
