The Outback Explorer - (Melbourne to Melbourne) - 4 Days/3 Nights
Day 1
Executive car transfer from your hotel in Melbourne. Depart Moorabbin Airport Melbourne, over flying Melbourne city enroute to Mildura and "Kars Station" 50nm SE of Broken Hill. Enjoy lunch in Mildura at TV chef, and local personality, Stefano de Pieri’s Café 27 Deakin Street, before our short 45 minute flight to Kars. Free time to wander around and visit the local school house museum on Kars after a private tour of the property with the owner, Fred Hughes. Pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard followed by a traditional Aussie barbecue. Relax and enjoy the outback stars before retiring to your en-suited guest cottage.
Day 2
Depart Kars after breakfast and head into Broken Hill for refuelling. Tour the Broken Hill Royal Flying Doctor Museum. Lunch at the Innamincka Pub before flying direct to the historic Burke and Wills “Dig Tree” on Nappa Merrie Station. Then it is on to the world renowned Prairie Hotel in the town of Parachilna, population 5. Indulge this evening at dinner in the hotel restaurant, choosing from the outback menu with such Australian delicacies as a mixed platter of kangaroo fillet, goat chop, camel sausage and emu patty
Day 3
Depart The Prairie after breakfast for Muloorina station and a chance to walk on the famous dry salt bed of Lake Eyre. On departure we head out over the “Marree Man” and then overfly the famous Wilpena Pound. Head off to our last stop for the night at North Bundaleer, which offers a secluded and indulgent homestead experience, with kangaroos and wonderful bird life in a natural Blue Gum environment. Dinner is a relaxed and ‘slow food’ 5 course affair, before retiring to bed in this grand and majestic homestead.
Day 4
After a leisurely breakfast we start on our route back to Melbourne. Lunch today is a seafood odyssey at Warrnambool before our last sector to Moorabbin Airport along the Great Ocean Road taking in a bird’s eye view of the iconic Twelve Apostles. Executive car transfer to your hotel in Melbourne.
