World Heritage Cruises will share the fascinating natural and human history of this unique and isolated region. Only minutes after pulling away from the Strahan Wharf, you will feel the pulse of the Mighty Southern Ocean at the aptly named Hells Gates and experience the rush of 60,000 kilograms of Atlantic Salmon thrashing the water of their farm pens into a boiling foam.

World Heritage Cruises professional guides bring to life the ghosts of Sarah Island, taking you back through the misery and the mystery of Australia’s oldest, and once most feared penal colony. But unlike other convict ruins Sarah Island has a ‘twist in the tale’ that will leave you amused and uplifted.

A sumptuous buffet lunch of Tasmania’s finest fare (optional extra) including that famous, locally grown smoked Salmon prepares you for the wilderness experience you came to enjoy on the winding wonderful Gordon River. The shadowy serenity of a hushed, primeval rainforest is a gentle stroll from your cruise on the boardwalks of Heritage Landing.

World Heritage Cruises

On your return leg of your cruise you will revisit the region’s rich mining and pining history and learn of the incredible persistence and pioneering spirit that was needed to carve fabulous wealth from an unforgiving terrain. This will be a day to remember.
