Getting to Bruny Island
Car Rental from Hobart Airport
There is no public transport to or on Bruny Island, so you will need to bring your own car or hire a car. Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty and Budget all hire cars in Hobart and this can be arranged in advance or at the airport. AVIS also operates in Tasmania but they do not currently allow their vehicles to travel to Bruny Island.

Bruny Island Ferry
Bruny Island is located on the south-east corner of Tasmania. The Bruny Island Ferry departs from Kettering 30-40 minutes south of Hobart. Allow extra time to purchase provisions on the way. The ferry carries passengers and vehicles departing ten times daily. During high season the ferry shuttles outside of her normal schedule due to increased traffic to the island. No booking is required. Please ensure you have the correct fare in cash and a National Parks Permit (purchased from the Visitor Centre next to the ferry terminal) prior to arriving to the ferry lineup lane, the pay at the ferry kiosk from you vehicle. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes and once you reach the other side, take your watch off, throw your mobile phone out the window, because at last you are on beautiful Bruny Island!
