Accommodation at Tonic Hotel, Hunter Valley
Tonic is inspired by the great Aussie shed. But don't get the wrong idea, these sheds have style - bucketfuls of it - and a setting to match. Don't be put off if your room appears small on the outside; inside the sloping roof and big windows ensure a light and airy feel. King sized beds are plump with goose-down duvets and dressed in crisp linen and velvet throws. Soft slippers, cowhide rugs, fresh flowers all make you feel instantly at home - there's even a welcoming message on the blackboard offering you cake, and a friendly teddy smiling at you from the pillow.

At Tonic, sliding screen doors lead out to your balcony overlooking the dam; louvre windows with mosquito netting allow cool breezes to flow through and the air-con to stay switched off. There's a white table inside and an aluminium one on the balcony - either will do for breakfast. Seating ranges from bean bags and squashy pouffes to funky modern chairs and rattan cubes.

The Tonic Hotel features eight secluded guest rooms offering personalised adults only privacy. Six of these are stunning hotel style rooms with large indulgent bathrooms, television, DVD, stereo, air-conditioning, internet and a maxi-bar (think big fridge filled with food you really want to eat.) In addition Tonic have 1 x two bedroom fully self contained apartment ideal for families or those wanting to self cater. The sunsets from your private balcony are just awesome. All rooms have access to the pool and the Tonic Lounge.

Dining
There's no restaurant of any sort, nor a breakfast room. Instead you will find a maxibar in your fridge, which provides you with enough for a three course breakfast, as well as snacks to nibble on through the day. Time means nothing here….wake up when you want to, get up when you feel like it. Choose, make and enjoy breakfast at a holiday pace. The contents of the maxibar change according to the season; try fresh eggs, home-made mushroom ragout with chorizo sausages, muffins, yoghurt, juice, a selection of breads and specialty teas, good quality coffee and more.

Your host Nic prepares all the food using local ingredients, and her lemon homos dip and our welcome chocolate and banana cake are just the best!! She is constantly experimenting; you might find raisin porridge, homemade egg and bacon tart, coconut bread, salmon with avocado and feta. If you have any particular preferences or food requirements, just let her know before you arrive and a fabulous concoction will be waiting for you. Breakfast is included in the price; the maxibar also has a good selection of local wines, beers, soft drinks and juices, which cost extra.

Most will venture out for dinner. You will find a variety of good quality eateries and a wine bar in close proximity to the Tonic Hotel.
