As a charter, departure time is as you wish. On a shared basis, Stardancer plan to sail at 0830am, but this can be changed if all parties are in agreement.
You will be invited to take as much or as little part in the sailing or navigation of the vessel as you wish.

Cairns Weather
Cairns' climate is a typical tropical climate with the 'wet' season being December through to March / April with most of the rain in the latter months. The wet season is generally hot and humid although a cruise on Stardancer will find the cool sea breezes and is the ideal way to enjoy North Queensland at this time.
The remainder of the year is mainly dry and in the dry season there is a steady stream of air from the cooler south with few changes in either direction or strength. These days are usually considered perfect for sailing and generally provide an enjoyable experience.
Sailing Destinations
Stardancer Sailing are in survey to sail anywhere along the Queensland coast out to 50 miles which gives you more than ample scope to visit any particular place you have an interest in. The waters around Cairns and within the Great Barrier Reef provide relatively smooth sailing through some of the most spectacular coral reefs you are ever likely to see. For the more adventurous there is always the opportunity of venturing further afield. Stardancer Sailing Charters pride themselves in their flexibility with times, destinations and activities.
Departure - You will arrive at 'D' finger in Cairns Marina at the time of departure. There is no need for any prolonged boarding procedure, just come aboard and you are ready to sail. Procedures regarding safety, reef care and personal protection are explained.
Dining on Stardancer
Dining can be enjoyed below in the saloon where there is space for six settings or on deck where there is space for four, or both if required. Special dietary requirements will be catered for on board Stardancer and must be notified at time of booking.
Breakfast - aboard Stardancer there is quite a variety of cereal and they always carry bread, bacon, eggs and fruit. Particular items can be requested at time of booking and will be supplied dependant on availability.
Lunch - is normally taken while moving, though not always. A good variety of gourmet sandwiches and fruit will be supplied.
Dinner - may be eaten on return to Cairns particularly on 12 hour cruises, but is normally eaten while relaxing in the lee of an island or cay on extended cruises. If able to eat while stationary, then staff prepare simple meals like steak or prawns with salads. If sailing while eating dinner, then the more easily manageable rice or pasta dishes will be provided. In either case, deserts are always available and always manageable.
Activities on/from Stardancer
Sailing - of course the primary purpose is simply sailing but the destination is of equal importance. Learning to sail is one of the things you can do if you are so inclined. Staff can show you in as much detail as you want, the running of the vessel including steering, navigating, sail setting and trimming and will even discuss the theories of each of these if you wish.
Snorkelling - the easiest way to see the reef is by snorkelling. Stardancer staff always spend as much time as you require to make sure that you are as comfortable in the water as possible, before viewing the magnificent reef.
Diving - under normal circumstances diving is not included as a service onboard Stardancer, but this can be included under some circumstances and by special arrangement. Normally, you would expect that this may be arranged on longer cruises with less than the maximum number of berths taken. Diving does incur an additional cost as it requires the hire of equipment not normally carried on the boat.
Alternatively, there is a nearby island and many other boats to rendezvous with that are fully equipped with diving gear and dive masters that will enable you to enjoy diving in their waters. The reefs there are quite varied. If this is your choice, then any additional costs incurred are directly payable to the island staff. Arrangements can be made on your behalf so that you can enjoy this service with a minimum of fuss.
Fishing - Stardancer does carry gear and bait to enable you to troll for fish and will sail to places where fish are likely to be caught if this is your preference. As any other type of fishing tends to cause lines to be caught in the rigging, it is not available.
