East Bedarra Island Retreat can accommodate a total of 12 guests, however should you wish to accommodate a larger event, charters can be arranged back to Mission Beach to any of the number of larger resort-style properties on the mainland. Alternatively, a charter can be arranged to collect all your wedding guests, leaving you and your newlywed to enjoy a private island honeymoon.
Activities from East Bedarra Island Retreat
Bedarra Island - is located in the family group of islands of the Great Barrier Reef and sits halfway between Townsville and Cairns and are the sister group of the Whitsunday Islands. The Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, stretches 350,000 square kilometers along the entire North Queensland coast. It is larger than the United Kingdom, longer than the Great Wall of China and is amongst the world’s top ten scuba and snorkeling destinations.
Snorkelling - equipment is supplied for you to explore the wondrous waters around Bedarra Island or you may choose a private charter to venture further to the Outer Great Barrier Reef.
Kayaking - enjoy a paddle with the turtles and if you are feeling really energetic you may wish to kayak around the island (this takes approx 1 hour) and only recommended on a calm day. Ensure you wear a hat, sunscreen and take some water.
Nature Walks - the various lookout points across the island are a spectacular place for solitude, photography, meditation or to watch the sunrise. There are many walks to discover and most are best at low tide. Your personal caretakers will provide you with information on the area and can suggest some great picnic spots.
Swimming - being an absolute beachfront property, a dip in these calm waters is a must. Both Doorila Bay and Coomool Beach are beautiful swimming spots, as is your own private saltwater plunge pool. The choice is yours…
Fishing - hand lines and tackle are supplied just be sure to add bait to your catering list. For the more serious, fully catered charters can be arranged for the more avid fisherman.
