Woodbridge - Fly Fishing Paradise
The Derwent Valley was the site of the introduction of trout to the Southern Hemisphere, and as a result, some of the best wild trout fly fishing is available near by. Trout can be caught literally on the doorstep of the Woodbridge on the Derwent Hotel (landings of 1-2 kg trout on our forewhore by local children are not uncommon) The best spots in the local rivers and highland lakes are known to our highly experienced guide and, whatever your level of skill he will introduce you to a memorable fishing expedition.
We will either celebrate your triumph as prepared by our chefs or commiserate with you over the one that got away.
The first trout hatchery was at Salmon Ponds in the late nineteenth century and those hatchlings were released into the Plenty River. You will experience a Mustang tour to the hatchery and associated museum and marvel at the huge trout of many varieties that still inhabit the ponds.
Spend your nights in luxury, in front of a log fire, in your spa suite, after a sauna and hot tub.
Includes 3 night stay in a luxury suite, full breakfasts, full day guided fishing experience for two persons, with all equipment and transportation, lunch and morning and afternoon teas provided, 2 hour tour to Salmon Ponds trout hatchery and museum, and a four course dinner featuring trout (we hope!).
